Our mustard story

The Jalapeno Mustard was the start of our mustard journey. An idea floated around my head for a good couple of years. Then one day it all fell into place and here it is.

Mustard is not a new thing, it’s been used for thousands of years all around the world. With ancient Sumerian and Indian text stating its use in 3000B.C. Ancient Egypt has also had a mention as has Chinese and Greek cultures.  The uses were as a medicine as well as a condiment.  It really doesn’t matter where it originated I just love the fact it’s still kept in cupboards and fridges all over the globe. Every continent has made it their own we have English Mustard, French Mustard,  American Mustard and not forgetting Tasmanian Jalapeno Mustard, to name a few.

Our Jalapeno Mustard is made from yellow mustard seeds grown in Northern Tasmania. The mustard seeds are ground for each batch. We then use our sun ripened Jalapenos that are grown on farm. The Jalapeno’s are dried then roughly ground to give us our end product. All of our products are made in small batch and our mustards are no exception. We believe the extra work needed is worth it for the end result.

Jalapeno Mustard can be used for many different occasions from your lunch time sandwich. Try mixing through mashed potato.  Mustard crust on meats is always a winner, chicken with mustard is a must try. You maybe suprised that a mustard crust on your salmon or tuna is a real tasty treat.
